The child is alive and well

Making the pheonix at Christis workshop got me all inspired again. Why I like making these is that it has a flow, it's not so much about left brain nutting the technical stuff out or making something 'perfect'...like...as much as I love inros, they are finicky to make and take a lot of refining. Where as these little creatures are more about letting your hands do their own thing, giving free rein to that which creates through you...I guess that's why Christis classes are so much fun too, is that it encourages spontaneity, lets your inner child out. And you know what? I think it shows in the work.
Anyhow, my favourite creature of all is the seahorse...I don't know why...it just strikes a note in me somehow...and since I had the luxury of a whole day to play, this is the result...

ooo I hope I didn't ruin it with all my drool. that is beautiful Mel. what stones/beads did you use in the necklace part? Now you give that inner child of yours an extra scoop of ice cream with hot chocolate sauce all over it for doing such a good job!

Thanks Kathi! I used golden green blister pearls and tiny light green natural coral beads...perfect for this kind of necklace. And THIS time I bought the pearls and coral first, then matched the colour with the clay. So much easier than the other way around!

Wow!!! Your inner child did very well!
I am horrible at designing jewelry for my beads...
I seem to envy those who do and do it well - so consider yourself to be amongst those who I envy -for you did an exceptional job on the necklace!

Can not wait to see more!

Connie thanks so much! And Tina, lovely to hear that kind of feedback. Truth be told, I'm pretty lousy at putting jewllery together and even this one needs some tweeking as the starfishies don't dangle like I want them to, but this is definitely the most exotic necklace I've made and I thank you for the confidence boost!
