Experimenting...
These pieces are not finished. I probably won't finish them as they've both got a terrible case of the moonies. I suspect the paint's moisture content is the problem although I made sure they dried thoroughly overnight. I've used Stuart Gills Byzantia acrylic metallic paints before underneath Premo Frost with good results...so I was disappointed to find moonies develop this time. Such a pity because I love how the rest of it has come together. Oh well, back to the clay table!
ps I do like the opal effects from the Arnold Grummer flakes, seems the best way to deal with these are to mix them with liquid clay and bake a thin layer directly on a tile...comes up a treat!
Edited to add: It just dawned on me what's causing the moonies...it's been raining here non stop for the past two days in our semi tropic climate...might have to put off using translucents for when the sun is shining!

I dunno Mel, I kind of like them...moonies and all. I think they add a little pop to them. But, you know me, I am weird :D
Hi Mel,
These are gorgeous....I don't see the moonies! Maybe they just fit in! Wonderful designs on both of them.
Raining there, 29 degrees F here!!!
They are fantastic! The moonies do not detract. It wouldn't keep me from wearing them.
Well THANKS to Kathi, Susan and Dylinn for your feedback. I guess I had the blinkers on. I'm beginning to see your point. Just goes to show that if it doesn't go according to plan, it's not necessarily wrong.
I love them Mel moonies and all. You are probably right about the moisture and in this weather nothing seems to dry properly.
Please finish them.
Jan
Oh I agree Mel, they are just beautiful... I see no flaws in them at all!! Can't wait to see them finished....
hehe...ok then, you've convinced me!
Thanks girls!
Hi, your jewelry are all fantastic and original.
I like they very much.
Bye Anna
Anna, thanks so much!
I love them both as they are, gorgeous!
Mel, can I just echo what the others have said, sweetie? The moonies enhance the piece, not distract from it. I'm glad you decided not to throw it away and show it to us first.
Thanks Cat, I'm too glad. I have a drawer full of stuff I chucked cos it didn't make the grade. Friends of mine raid it from time to time, often finding stuff they really like...they're much more willing to overlook slight flaws than I am.
I like the moonies. With the changes in how the translucents are made, I have found it difficult to creat thd moonies when I wanted them. I will have to look for rainy clay days.
